Pogrebnyak transfers to VfB Stuttgart
Hello all Russia fans. I would just like to share some thought on a piece of news I received a bit late. I just recently heard that Pavel Pogrebnyak has transfered from FC Zenit St. Petersburg to VfB Stuttgart.
I think that this is a major move in his career as he can ply his trade outside Russia. It is definitely a positive for more Russian players to play abroad. VfB Stuttgart will definitely find use of Porgebnyak after the transfer of Mario Gomez to Bayern Munchen. Pogrebnyak is a striker with a powerful left foot and tall stature to win crucial headers the box as well as to maintain possession. However he is likely to compete with Ciprian Marica, Cacau, Alessandro Riedle, and Julian Schieber. But I think Pogrebnyak’s experience and skills will get him a starting spot.
This is certainly a blow for FC Zenit St. Petersburg because they only have two natural strikers in a squad of twenty-one players. Zenit will need to spend the rest of the summer shopping as they need to purchase at least two or three more strikers.
Will write a preview as well as post game analysis of the Russia Argentina match next week.
I look forward to reading your comments.
