Michael Laudrup to lead Spartak Moscow

September 8th, 2008 | By: j | No Comments »

Spartak Moscow has ended it’s search and about to announce Michael Laudrup, formerly of Getafe and Brøndby, as new manager with the signing of a eighteen month contract. Following Spartak Moscow’s dismant at the hands of long-time rivals Dynamo Kyiv in Champions League qualifiers, they let go of Stanislav Cherchesov and have been considering a number of upper-tier leaders. In signing him, Spartak Moscow’s General Director Valeri Karpin has scored a great coup with one of the games most exciting young managers.

Michael Laudrup will coach with a flourish and put Spartak Moscow forward with a great attacking scheme. While he only spent a single campaign with La Liga’s Getafe, he quickly built them in a free-flowing powerhouse squad. With the Spartak Moscow youth program he’ll have access to some of the best regional talent and could have a very pronounced impact upon overall development.

I will provide additional updates once formerly announced, including when we expect to see him arrive.
