Arshavin Set to Leave Gunners? Maybe, Who Knows
The British media have been circling around the rumor that Gunner and Russian international star Andrey Arshavin could be on his out of the London club. In my last post I mentioned the rumor of a possible transfer to Juventus which was repeatedly played down. For the past week there have been rumors that he could be on his way to Chelsea or Zenit St. Petersburg.
Arshavin has been out of form lately after not being handed a start in the Premier League in the new calendar year. Wenger has opted to use Samir Nasri as a temporary replacement in the left midfield position of the 4-2-3-1 formation. Arshavin did however start once in both the League Cup and the FA Cup but was taken off in both matches. In response to the criticism that he has not scored enough goals this season, Arshavin is a playmaker who delivers more passes than scores goals and should not be blamed for a low goal output.
Taking a look at both Chelsea and Zenit, their squads are both full of talent, depth, and quality such that they do not necessarily need Arshavin. Arshavin’s best bet may be to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place back. Another possibility would be to have Arshavin play in center for the three man attacking midfield unit between Nasri and Carlos Vela or Theo Walcott. This may give Arshavin the opportunity to play in the position he has played for Zenit and Russia under Guus Hiddink’s reign.

Yeah, I shame he most probablyt won’t return to his magic of 2008. He impressed everyone in the Euro and even scored 4 goals against Liverpool in 2009. I’m sure it’s just a phase, once he gets an inspired game, his confidence will be boosted and he’ll get better.
