Arshavin Returns to Zenit

Hello to all Russia fans. This is a quick spur of the moment post as I just received the news that Andrei Arshavin has been loaned back to Zenit. Apparently this came out of no where as Arsene Wenger did not expect to see the transfer happen until the summer. Although given his bench warmer status and his recent demotion to the Arsenal Reserves, it makes perfect sense that Arshavin wanted to leave Arsenal to get more playing time ahead of Russia’s Euro 2012 campaign. Goal.com has even quoted him saying his desire was to “maximise his opportunities for regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2012 in June”.
Arshavin’s move will only be beneficial for all parties involved. Arsenal will be able to get him back (if they choose to) in June when he’s fit. He will not need to do any kind of adjusting as he spent all his youth and most of his career at Zenit. If Arshavin is able to get regular playing time between now and Euro 2012, it will not only benefit Russia, but if Arsenal want him back, he can return to the Emirates with more confidence.
